USCIS DELAYS USE OF NEW FORM I-9 TO APRIL 3, 2009

On Friday, January 30, 2009, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that it has delayed the mandatory use of the revised Form I-9 by 60 days. As we advised last Monday, use of the new Form I-9 was to become mandatory for all
employers today.

This delay will allow the Department of Homeland Security to further review the rule mandating use of the new Form I-9. Additionally, USCIS has reopened the public comment period for 30 days, until March 4, 2009.

Access the updated Form I-9.

If you have any questions about the new Form I-9, please contact Ed Hayward: 612.607.7280 or Rebecca Bernhard: 612.607.7493.
