Oppenheimer's Legacy of Giving Back in Chicago

Oppenheimer is thrilled to be sponsoring Operation Warm for the fifth consecutive year, underscoring our steadfast commitment to giving back to the community. Mike Kelly, Director of Investments at Oppenheimer's Chicago office, has been a driving force behind our enduring support for Operation Warm, a charitable organization dedicated to providing new winter coats to underprivileged children in the Chicago area.
Mike assisted in securing Oppenheimer's sponsorship for Operation Warm's "Coats for Kids Charity Benefit Concert," which took place on October 13, 2023, at the Valley Lo Club in Glenview, Chicago. This event successfully sold over 110 tickets and raised funds to provide more than 1,000 coats to children in need.
The thought of a child without the basic need of warmth is painful for all of us – and something that I wanted to dedicate a portion of my life to.
Operation Warm is renowned for its "More Than a Coat" philosophy, impacting the lives of children by not only providing them with physical warmth but also emotional support, the confidence to engage with others and excel, and the hope for a brighter future. Throughout its 24 years of dedicated service, Operation Warm has distributed over 5 million coats and more than 200,000 pairs of new shoes in over 1,200 communities. Many of the children supported by Operation Warm live below the federal poverty line, or they reside in homeless shelters and foster care.
Mike, who joined Oppenheimer's Chicago office in 2018, brings a shared commitment to helping children during the harsh Chicago winters. His passion for this cause has been nothing short of inspiring. This partnership with Operation Warm reflects the power of corporate social responsibility, community engagement, and individuals coming together to make a difference. Mike and the entire Oppenheimer team have exemplified the values of compassion and giving back, making winter a little warmer and a lot brighter for Chicago's children in need.
