Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. acted as Exclusive Financial Advisor to Leprino Foods Company on its Acquisition of Glanbia Cheese UK and Glanbia Cheese EU
Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. acted as the Exclusive Financial Advisor to Leprino Foods Company, the world’s largest manufacturer of mozzarella cheese and a leading supplier of dairy ingredients, on its acquisition of the ownership stake in Glanbia Cheese UK and Glanbia Cheese EU from its publicly listed JV partner, Glanbia plc. Leprino Foods, a privately owned global player, now owns 100% of both entities. The acquired entities will be renamed as Leprino Foods UK Limited and Leprino Foods EU Limited.
Leprino Foods and Glanbia plc began the Glanbia Cheese joint venture in 2000 and the business has become a market-leading European mozzarella business with over 500 employees. There are two manufacturing facilities in the UK – Llangefni in Wales and Magheralin in Northern Ireland – as well as a corporate office in Northwich, England. A third manufacturing facility is located in Portlaoise, Ireland. The acquisition will enable Leprino Foods to expand its presence in the European market and further strengthen its position as one of the world’s largest mozzarella cheese makers.
