Oppenheimer Brings Holiday Joy to Troops and Seniors
- December 18, 2024
With over 250 handwritten messages, the team delivered gratitude and cheer to those who need it most this season.
In the spirit of the holiday season, employees at Oppenheimer’s New York City Headquarters came together to craft over 250 heartfelt cards and letters for U.S. troops and isolated seniors.
These handmade messages were sent to support two meaningful causes: A Million Thanks, an organization dedicated to uplifting military members and their families by delivering letters of gratitude to service members and veterans, and Citymeals on Wheels, which provides nutritious meals, handmade cards, and companionship to New York City’s homebound elderly.
Among the participants was Hitesh Uttamchandani, a Director in the firm’s Information Technology Department and a proud U.S. Army Veteran. Reflecting on his personal connection to the initiative, Hitesh shared, "These cards make a big difference to anyone serving during the holiday season. I still have all of the cards that I received during that time of the year. When you're supposed to be with your family and you're serving overseas, they really do help you."
Through these efforts, Oppenheimer employees helped spread joy by reminding active and reserve military members, veterans, and isolated seniors that they are cherished and remembered during the holidays. These initiatives underscore the power of simple acts of kindness in bringing comfort and connection to those who need it most.
